Parent Workshop

February 9^th at 6:30 pm in the Multi-Purpose Room

Topic:  “Sensory Integration and How It Impacts School Performance and Behavior at Home and In School”

This is a dynamic training about how your child learns and interacts with the world around them both at home and at school.  Understanding how your student processes and interprets information will help you to understand why some tasks are harder or easier than others, why sometimes it seems your child doesn’t hear or understand you, doesn’t complete things on time or to the best of their ability and why some work can be very frustrating for them, and for you, when you try to help.  This training will also help you learn how to figure out what is wrong when behavior at school and home becomes difficult or escalates and what to do to support your child’s success in both environments.  You will learn strategies that are easy to implement immediately and that will start to change things for the better right away. Help get rid of the “homework wars” at home, and help make school become more enjoyable for your student.  Bring your questions and concerns – we are always happy to listen and help with suggestions and strategies at the presentation.  Hope to see you there!

Good News!  Children’s Dental Van at Rescue School

 The El Dorado Children’s Dental Van will be stationed at Rescue School from February 20 – March 2. The Children’s Dental Van serves children in El Dorado County who are ages 0-5 with Medi-Cal insurance. Services include:

• Dental Exams
• Preventive Care
• Simple Dental Treatment

A dentist and two dental assistants operate the clinic.

If your child has Medi-Cal and needs a dental exam, call the El Dorado Co. Children’s Health Initiative at 1-800-388-8690 to get more information.

The Rescue School community is committed to our responsibility of creating and maintaining a meaningful and memorable educational environment.  Working together with our students and their families, we promote success for all of our students.

Nestled in an area rich in the history of California including the Pony Express and the onset of the Gold Rush, Rescue Elementary School is a quiet oasis in an area of rapidly expanding foothill neighborhoods.  School buses pass along a road next to which cows are grazing with deer and wild turkeys appearing from time to time.  Approaching our school from the west you will see the Sierra Nevada mountains in the background, covered with snow for much of the year.  Our enrollment of Kindergarten through 5th grade hovers at about 500 enthusiastic students.  The Parent Teacher Council at Rescue is a generous group of dedicated parents who passionately support our school community with their efforts.  Our teachers are a highly qualified collection of nurturing and devoted professionals with consistently high standards for themselves and their students.
